Norwich
(UK): Oman Racing
Team (ORT) driver Ahmad Said Al Harthy who represents
Oman in the Formula Renault (BARC) Championship completed
race 7 and 8 at the Snetterton Circuit in the United
Kingdom.
After
a long and hard testing program set by the team prior
to the double header at the Snetterton circuit Al
Harthy qualified for race 7 in 12th position with
a best time of 1 minute 09.601 seconds, after a good
start Oman’s formula racer was able to pass
two more cars and finish in 10th place scoring another
championship point. “ I had a good start in
race 7, Snetterton is a fast track with two long straights,
and I was able to overtake two cars in the 14 lap
race, I am delighted to finish in 10th its always
nice to score points”, mentioned Ahmad after
the race.
There
were harder condition for race 8, which saw Al Harthy
having to start at the back of the 30 car grid due
to technical matter with the car. “We had a
slight issue with the car, which resulted in me starting
from the back of the grid, as it has always been this
season that meant we had over 30 cars competing. I
had a good start and it was a challenge to go through
the pack. My race pace was similar to the top 8 in
the race, which meant I caught up with the other drivers
very fast. I managed to finish in 18th, overall I
am happy with my performance this weekend and I can’t
wait for my next race in two weeks time”, commented
Al Harthy when asked about race 8.
Having
been the only International driver in the Championship
to score points in the last round at the famous Silverstone
circuit, Al Harthy’s Hillspeed team in the UK
have been working hard to always give our Omani racer
the most competitive car, and with Ahmad's latest
results and race pace the team are motivated for race
9 and 10 of the championship at Brands Hatch on the
25th and 26th of August
Snetterton’s
3.2km also hosts action from both two and four wheels
racing with British Superbikes, British F3 and British
Touring Cars.
